Product #: N-BCS5
The tube beads are Middle Kingdom (2050-1650 B.C.) in colors that imitate lapis lazuli and turquoise, which I bought at Khépri, an Egyptian antiquities gallery in Paris that was begun two generations ago in Cairo. The earliest known workshops that produce faience beads imitating precious stones are pre-dynastic, for example sites at Naqada, Egypt, which were active 6000 years ago. The silvery beads are pretty Chinese imitations of Egyptian originals: see how cultural patterns persist across millennia!
